Challenges to tackle:

  • The hilly topography. The city is located on the Salpausselkä ridge, which was created during the last Ice Age.  
  • Long shaped, fragmented city. Suburbs are separated from the center by industry areas, lake, airport or military area. 
  • Quite long distances to the city center 

Main goals of the LL:

  • Promote active mobility, especially cycling 
  • To identify the barriers to cycling 
  • Improve the city bike system 
  • Improve co-habitation between mobilities
